Post Election Thoughts
I've got a solution to combat Populism and prevent future Trump to win: let's educate the fuck out of Battleground states. Imagine in California UCs and Cal States offer remote degree to all Battleground state kids at in-state tuition - I'd be willing to pay my share of CA tax for this. Per Scott Galloway, our upper education system need to step out of their ivory towers and do their intended job of educating the masses and making the ordinary extraordinary. Who else would benefit from educated population - HMOs and Health care systems like Kaiser who's preventative care strategy helps with their bottom line. Education will reduce anti-vaxxer conspiracy theorists. Kaiser would be incentivized to fund education for States they operate in, and ditto with HMOs in battle ground state. Progressive foundations like Gates Foundation would also fund this effort - they've spent billions eradicating Africa of Malaria. Whey won't they spend billions eradicating the US of ignorance? And in Game Theory - Roy Cohn Win-At-All-Cost style: Lets just focus on educating the battle ground states for now - forget the deep south red states, they wont flip for a long time, but Battleground states will. CA influencing Arizona/Nevada during an election is no different than Utah/LDS Church pouring millions into campaign to defeat CA Prop 8. Other Blue States with the upper education infrastructure (NY, Illinois, Washington, Michigan) will want to join in. Ivy Leagues and Stanford should be incentivized to allocate remote admissions to Battleground states. And with a 4 year education, we can see flipping done within 2 election cycles. Education is a vaccine against ignorance, we just haven't been able to fund and deploy it to target the root cause of Populism yet.
